Correcting the Confusions

I thought I was clear about my joke but it appears I was not? I've had a couple of people say "Congratulations on your engagement!", but I'm not sure why. I mean I know why, but I did say I was not engaged after a bunch of spacing and stuff. If you missed it, it appeared as follows:
