The good news about my absence is that I have managed to avoid yapping about Pig Flu (I refuse to call it by it's proper name because I'm like that) so if you've been trying to avoid reading about it, I've surely helped out!!! And if you've wanted to read about it...well there was plenty of shit out there to find and now of course the giant FEAR about nothing is gone.
I feel really bad for Mexico as a whole it's really been getting a shitty wrap lately and I will say that it really doesn't deserve it. So as a result, lots of people who rely on the tourism industry are suffering and it's just not cool. I know Mexico will bounce back, it always does. If any country is good at bouncing back it's Mexico, but yet my heart aches a little for the current suffering and I actually feel guilty that I don't live there right now, and that I'm not battling it out beside my friends.
Mexico is still such an integral part of who I am and how I think and I often find myself wavering between how I think as an expat in Mexico and how I think as a Canadian.
Last week I had a friend over to watch a movie and I decided to order it from my digital cable box. This means I can just pick the movie from my t.v. and watch it instead of venturing out to Blockbuster and dealing with all that bullshit. But the movie had glitches the entire way through and me and my guest just decided to live through it because calling up the company and disrupting the ambiance seemed like the wrong thing to do.
I said I would call the company and bitch the next day but then the next day came and I thought the following:
- Don't bother calling they won't even answer the phone.
- If they answer the phone they'll act polite but then hang up and send you to the hell.
- They won't believe me if I tell them and think I'm a crazy gringa.
- They will tell me they will credit me just to get me off the phone but it's just a big fat lie. I'll never see it reflected on my bill.
- They'll tell me I need to go to the office if I want something done about it.
- They'll say, "you're not suppose to have that service" and disconnect my internet just for fun.
- They'll change my address on my bill and then make me phone 50 times and go to the office to change it back, even though I didn't fuck up in the first place. (Might lead to slamming phone on desk...just a 411)
Call and bitch and make them give you something in return. So I called, and I was polite and they apologized and gave me a credit for another movie. LOL.
Certainly not like Mexico at all! LOL. But I'm grateful that I know the difference and can appreciate the simplicity I've found back in Canada.
On another note, I just booked a beach vacation and no it's not Cancun. It's not that I'm not going to Cancun right now because of a stupid flu, or because the Mafia scares me. But I really do think I should see other parts of the world right now. So I'm hittin Punta Cana for now but hope to see the CUN at the end of the year. So do me a favor and don't make me feel guilty. There really is more to it than just the "seeing other parts of the world" but I don't know how to explain it so I'm just not going to.
I could write more and ramble on forever but maybe I'll blog on the weekend or something....or maybe not? HAHAAHA.
Bai and I lurves you allz.

Ahhh, a dose of the My Guey, thanks. You always make me giggle. I'm jealous of your trip, I wanna see someplace else with a beach! Take lots of pics and share the tales please!
You'll notice I haven't been giving you shit about not blogging, but it's because I know you are busy. So you can see the enormous amounts that I'M suddenly blogging must be proportionate to the other things I actually do.
That bit about what might happen if you called the cable company about the movie was funnier than shit by the way. This is my favorite: "They'll say, "you're not suppose to have that service" and disconnect my internet just for fun." Fucking hilarious.
So yeah. I should probably have just said all this to you on chat.
Yeah your back. But I did love checking in and getting to read your last post again. Made me laugh frequently.
Canuck - If you think about it, it's my first REAL vacation after 6 years! So it's exciting!
JJ - I'm glad you liked and please comment when you can instead of being lazy and telling me what you think in chat;)
Clan - I like to making the people laugh. Is a good!
